Our new little friend!

I really don't love dead things hanging on my walls but I love skulls for some odd reason, I bought a bull head for my girlfriends birthday, but when he (stuart the bull) came in the mail I fell in love with him. I wanted to hang him up but first I wanted to do something fabulous to him, so I glittered him up. He's so cute now and adds to my eclectic style. We can't tell if he's metro or gay but we love him anyways! :)

Pillows!!

So the other day I wanted to make some pillow's for my girlfriends birthday. I didn't have a lot of time or money. BUT I did have lots on muslin ($2 a yard in white and cream) some burlap ($1 to 2 a yard) tons of old buttons. They took me about 3 hours to make. I loved how messy but cute they turned out. I was SO in love with them, it was hard to give them away :).

Trying to solve a light problem

We are renting right now, so I don't want to spend money on a new light/fan in my daughters room. So the other day I made a flower out of tissue paper and put a charm in the middle and hung it from the bottom of the light. Hopefully it won't catch on fire!!! :) It was easy I took 4 pieces of wrapping tissue paper (cream color) laid them flat on top of each other and accordion folded them (1 inch) them took a paper clip and clip right in the center (to hold it together) them pulled the sheets apart. Clipped a charm (gift from a friend) in the center and WAAAA LAAAAA!!!! I think it's super cuter and cost less than a $1. Adds a nice softness to my little girls room.

Life is full of BLISS

With all the changes (good and bad) in our little family lives over the past two years. We finally feel like life is blissful and excited for the next chapter. Of course things aren't 100% better and we'll always have ups and downs in our lives. So heres a little reminder in our kitchen, that life IS blissful and all that matters in our family and faith.
Hobby Lobby sells these letters(50% off, $10), there gold and not that attractive. So I mod podged them with some zebra print tissue paper. There one of a kind, cute and only $25.

I'm back and it's button time

HI! I'm back, I've been busy moving to AZ and giving birth. :) We have a sweet little daughter and named her Portia. She is a huge blessing and a great addition to our family.
So I've been going crazy and really wanting to get back and start creating and decorating. I was going through all my crafts and realized I've got thousands................. I mean thousands of BUTTONS. I have this old clock hanging in my kitchen, I pulled it down , got my buttons and turned on my glue gun and started hot gluing buttons on my clock. It turned out SO cute, it was cheap and very unique. Do you know anyone else with a button clock????? I didn't think so.

My new bedroom

I haven't decorated my master bedroom for the last two years.  I've been super busy plus having no money is a huge problem-o. BUT I was able to decorate for very very little $. I sold our bed and I wanted a new one SO I found these vinyl stickers (etsy) and they make cute headboards. It only cost $28 and when I get sick of it or want a change I can chuck it! I bought cute amy butler fabric for $20 and made two pillows. I had this old candle chandelier that I spray painted black and then to finish all off I love colored glass vases and had a few that matched perfect with the colors. It was fun doing and super easy and really cheap!

another fabulous lamp

I redid this lamp a while back and LOVE it. It costed less than $3, and took maybe 20 min!
I just gathered tulle on the top and the bottom of the lamp and hot glued it and then trimmed it. Then took ribbon and covered up the hot glue and made a flower with ribbon and glued an old vintage button on top of the flower. It was very easy fast and made an old lamp......... posh :)

Crafters block!

You know when writers have writers block, well I have crafters block. It's driving me NUTS!!!!! I feel like I'm going crazy. I don't know if it was the move down to AZ and the kids are home all day long, if it's the 112 degree weather or my pregnancy. I want to do some crafts, sew something, decorate something, but I can't figure out what. I was looking through some pictures I took right before we moved down here, we left in May when our cherry trees were in full bloom in our back yard and all our rose bushes were just starting to blossom. Maybe thats where i got my inspiration from. Oh and cant forget one of my BFF's Melody Ross that always had something up her sleeve. HELP!! What can I do?

Saturday, April 11, 2009

I've been spending  time with my camera again. The weather is nicer and and I'm feeling the itch to get out and start shooting. We were down in AZ last week and Lulu and I went out to a dump yard and played around with some old cars and got some great shots. Can't wait to get out in the spring weather and shoot, shoot, shoot. My camera and I have a love-hate relationship.

Coffee Filter Garland

I found this craft the other day, It cost $1 and took less than 30 min. I took about 4 feet of yarn, and threaded 6 coffee filters, every 6 inches. Scrunch the coffee filters before threading them. It looks so cute for a birthday party, strung over a mirror, window, or a photo. It's so cheap and easy. You can also tea stain them or dye them a different color.

My handy, dandy lamps...........

These lamps I have had for a while now.......... Boring, bland white, with gold base. So..... a few months ago I spice them up. I moj poj (?) the lamp shade with some news paper and wrapped ribbon and feathers around them and then painted the bases a blue, green color. It cost me less than $10 for supplies and now I have original lamps. I love them, they are very unique. Plus when I'm sick of them I can rip them apart and totally revamp them! :)

My other FAVORITE chair!

This is another inexpensive way to decorate on a budget.
I picked up this chair at RC Willey's  a couple of years ago for $100. I love it!!!
I wanted to change it up, but didn't have the moo-la, so I bought a piece of fabric and just tucked it in the sides. It was less than $5!!!!!!  Check out "amy butler's" fabric. SUPER CUTE!!!!

So Posh Bracelets

More bracelets coming soon this week. My family is done being sick!!!!! Thank goodness, I feel like my head was turning into the shape of  my toilet!!!!! :)

My $15 chair

When we moved into our rental, I was decorating the home and realized I sold to much furniture. AHHHH I was missing a chair. I didn't have enough money to just go out a get a new one. I went to the closest Salvation Army and went shopping. I found this chair for $10 and then went to Wal-Mart and bought $5 worth of heavy canvas.
I'm not very good on the sewing machine, plus it was broken.  So i got  out my Gun.................. glue gun! I started to tear 5X5 squares of fabric and started hot gluing them to the chair and made a patch work design. Then put a skirt around the bottom of it. To add a little funk to it, I tacked one of my old leather belts around the back of it. I didn't hem it, just left it messy looking. I guess you could call it a rustic look :) It took $15 of materials, scissor and a glue gun and 3 hours. It's my favorite chair EVER!!! If you're feeling a little creative go to a 2nd hand store and find something you can make better with a little paint, fabric, oh and some love a patience. If you have any fun cheap Ideas post them. we would love to take a look.
